Welcome to Digital Humanities and Publishing Studies Research Group

Welcome to the Digital Humanities and Publishing Studies Research Group at IIT Indore. We unite technology and humanities through innovative, critical digital scholarship aimed at fostering accessible, inclusive, and socially engaged research. Guided by Professor Nirmala Menon, our group cultivates collaborative projects that amplify diverse cultural narratives and support equitable knowledge production for both local and global communities.

About Us

Our lab undertakes interdisciplinary research that integrates digital methodologies with the humanities to explore complex cultural, linguistic, and social landscapes—particularly within the Indian context. We focus on areas such as spatial humanities, digital archiving and preservation, postcolonial and feminist digital studies, multilingual publishing, and computational cultural analysis.

Under the leadership of Professor Nirmala Menon, a leading scholar in postcolonial studies, Indian digital humanities, and multilingual publishing and scholarship, our projects critically engage with challenges such as infrastructural inequities, digital labor, and social marginalization. Through digital mapping, participatory archives, and open-access platforms, we develop tools and resources that encourage community-driven and inclusive scholarship.

Our research further explores themes of gender, identity, and intersectionality, with particular attention to marginalized communities, including transgender narratives, ecofeminism, and caste-based histories. This engagement reflects our ongoing commitment to socially responsive digital humanities, sustaining diverse voices and fostering global dialogues.
